The eighth Ogarkov Readings were held in Moscow

The eighth Ogarkov Readings were held in Moscow On October 30, 2025, the eighth annual Ogarkov Readings conference took place in the Column Hall of the Museum of Military Uniforms in Moscow. The event was organized by the Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST) with the support of MSP Bank and the Special Technology Center (STC). The conference’s official sponsor was the state corporation Rostec.

Named in honor of Marshal Nikolai Ogarkov, Chief of the General Staff of the USSR Armed Forces (1977–1984) and one of Russia’s most influential military thinkers of the late 20th century, the conference continues to explore his intellectual legacy. Ogarkov’s ideas on the technological modernization of the armed forces and his concept of a “revolution in military affairs” anticipated many principles that underpin contemporary defense planning.

This year’s Ogarkov Readings once again brought together representatives from the military, academia, and the defense industry. The central theme of the forum focused on the evolution of military technologies and their influence on the nature of modern warfare. Special attention was devoted to strategic forecasting, cooperation between the armed forces and industry, and the moral and psychological dimensions of military service.
